Amid the growing popularity of “China Travel,” visa-free policies, instant tax refunds, and mobile payment options are attracting increasing numbers of international visitors. On June 19, 2025, Shanghai officially launched “Easy Go,” a one-stop integrated service platform for inbound tourists.
Developed by the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office in collaboration with the People’s Bank of China Shanghai Head Office and multiple municipal departments, “Easy Go” leverages Alipay’s international version to consolidate high-frequency travel services—including dining, transportation, culture, tourism, and shopping—while providing public service information. The platform aims to deepen the integration of Shanghai’s “culture, tourism, commerce, sports, and exhibition” sectors.
Overseas users can access all functions through one-click registration and authorization, eliminating the hassle of downloading multiple apps or repeated sign-ups. Its homepage features 30 mini-programs across four core scenarios: Food, Transport, Sightseeing, and Shopping. These cover services like food delivery, public transit, ride-hailing, shared bikes, travel advisories, ticket booking, luggage storage, and tax-refund maps. The platform primarily uses English but supports real-time multilingual translation.
Unique innovations include the ”Touch-to-Refund” service, which streamlines tax refunds via Alipay when combined with the “City Tax Refund Map.” A guide section offers updated digital life tips through the Shanghai International Service Portal, while travel strategies aggregate short videos from official media and global influencers—helping users transition from “exploring Shanghai” to “discovering China.”
“Easy Go is incredibly convenient. Visitors no longer need numerous apps—everything from payments to bike rentals is integrated here,” said Le Gaixi from France.
By the end of June 2025, China’s 240-hour visa-free transit policy had expanded to 55 countries, with 47 nations eligible for unilateral visa-free entry. The upgraded ”instant tax refund” service—enabling global tourists to claim refunds via Alipay’s “touch” or “scan” features—further enhances travel convenience.
